Senegal: Far from Europe, Abdou Diallo reassures ahead of AFCON 2025
Abdou Diallo

Since moving to Qatar in the summer of 2023, Senegal international Abdou Diallo says he is ready to take on the challenge of AFCON 2025 in Morocco if selected.

Having left PSG for Qatar, Abdou Diallo is not prioritizing a return to Ligue 1 or Europe in this summer's transfer window. And this remains true despite ongoing contacts and the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.

Recently, he opened up in an interview with RMC Sport. The Senegalese defender sees no issue with playing in Qatar when it comes to representing Senegal at the next AFCON in Morocco.

"No, no, I don’t think it will be a problem. Especially since I’ve been here for two years and I’ve been called up for two years. So I don’t see any issue. There are still plenty of national team players competing in the Middle East, and that number could even rise by the next AFCON and World Cup. So no, I have no problem; my only concern is to perform, to stay healthy, and the coach and everyone in the Den know me very well. When I’m there, I’ll show that I’m still the same Abdou Diallo," the former PSG defender told reporters.
