Senegal's dealing with growing injury crisis just days before resuming their 2026 World Cup qualification campaign.

Key Absences for Crucial Fixtures

Coach Pape Thiaw's set to announce his squad for the upcoming qualifiers against Sudan, 22 Mar in Benghazi, Libya and Togo 25 March in Diamniadio at the end of the week, his plans have been severely disrupted by series of injuries to key players.

  • Habib Diarra (RC Strasbourg): The midfielder who scored both goals in Senegal’s last win against Burundi, is out for month with ankle injury.
  • Nicolas Jackson (Chelsea): Ruled out due to hamstring injury.
  • El Hadji Malick Diouf (Slavia Prague): Fractured fibula, ending his season.
  • Abdallah Sima (Brest): Stretchered off before halftime after scoring against Angers.
  • Edouard Mendy (Al Ahli), Fode Ballo Toure (Le Havre) and Ismail Jakobs (Galatasaray): Carrying minor injuries but could still available.

Selection Challenges for Thiaw

The left back position's particularly affected with Diouf, Jakobs and Ballo Touré all doubtful. Possible replacements include Abdou Diallo (Al Arabi SC), Seydou Sano (Al Gharafa) or Mikayil Faye (Rennes) as emergency solutions.
