After a League Cup was awarded to the under-20 category, Senegal is set to organize a national championship for the under-17s for the first time. The news was shared by the Senegalese local press. Although the Senegalese Professional Football League has not yet confirmed the information, several details are already circulating about this project.

This competition will begin before the end of April 2025 and will continue until July. It will involve all clubs engaged in this category across the national territory and will take into account eight major regional zones: Dakar; Thiès, Fatick and Kaolack; Louga and Saint-Louis; Diourbel and Matam; Ziguinchor; Kolda and Sédhiou; Kaffrine; Kédougou and Tambacounda. In each of these zones, clubs will compete in home-and-away matches. At the end of this first phase, a selection will be made in each group. These eight regional selections will then meet to compete in a final phase.

This final phase will also bring together the under-15 teams. The best teams will compete in a group stage, then in semi-finals, before aiming for the title in the final, explains Wiwsport. Beyond the results, this championship is also an opportunity for young players to get noticed.
