Shuts Down Comparisons - Mbappé Fires Back: "I’m Not Chasing Messi & Ronaldo’s Legacy!"
Kylian Mbappe's made it clear that he isn't striving to match the legendary status of Lionel Messi & Cristiano Ronaldo. Speaking at press conference on Wednesday, the Real Madrid forward emphasized his focus on team achievements rather than personal accolades.
No Messi & Ronaldo Comparison
“I don’t try to reach Messi and Ronaldo’s level. They're irreplaceable. My goal's always to help my team win and I don’t focus on my individual statistics” said Mbappé.
When asked about his chances of winning the Ballon d’or, the French star responded with smile saying:
“I’ll ask Luka Modrie how he won it”.
Preparing for UEFA Nations League & World Cup 2026
Ahead of France’s UEFA Nations League quarter final clash against Croatia, Mbappe expressed his admiration for Croatian footballers:
“I learned a lot from Subašić at Monaco and I’m thrilled to be alongside Modric every day at Real Madrid.”
He also addressed his return to the French national team, saying:
“Despite the noise around my absence, everything's clear within the squad. My focus's on preparing for the 2026 World Cup and we're all determined to become world champions again.”
Responding to Criticism and Supporting Teammates
The France captain acknowledged past criticism of his performance, stating:
“I accept justified criticism. I didn’t play well against Italy last September and I understand why people reacted negatively to my press conference before that match”.
Mbappe also condemned the abuse directed at his teammate Adrien Rabiot during Marseille’s match against Paris Saint Germain.
“What happened's unacceptable. Insulting parents's crossing the line. This's issue that must be tackled seriously and I hope to see positive steps taken against such behavior.”
