Betway Premiership outfit Stellenbosch FC have explained the reason behind strengthening their defence with the signing of Olisa Ndah.

The Nigeria international arrived in the Winelands as a free agent after mutually agreeing to part ways with Soweto giants Orlando Pirates last month.

This came after the 28-year-old defender fell down the pecking order, owing to his constant unavailability due to persistent long-term injuries.

Stellies moved swiftly to acquire his services on a free transfer, and the club's CEO Rob Benadie has shed light on the decision to sign the player.

“Olisa is a player with proven quality and experience at the highest level, and we are pleased to welcome him to Stellenbosch FC,” he told the club's media department.

"We are deliberate in our recruitment strategy to ensure that every signing complements the group, and having had the chance to assess him closely, we are confident he will be a valuable addition to our squad.

Ndah, who is set to don the number 99 jersey, is the fourth Nigerian to play for the Maroons, alongside teammates Ibraheem Jabaar, Kazie Enyinnaya, and ex-striker Stanley Dimgba.

The former Pirates stalwart will be itching to make his debut when his new employers welcome bottom-placed Magesi FC at the Danie Craven Stadium on Wednesday, 18 February.
