Super Eagles: Nathan Tella out, Joshua Torunarigha called up as reinforcement

On Thursday, March 13, 2025, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced that Nathan Tella, winger for Bayer Leverkusen, is out for the Super Eagles' matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Nigerian national team is preparing to face Rwanda and Zimbabwe in the 5th and 6th rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. However, the team must cope without Nathan Tella. Called up for the Super Eagles against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, the Bayer Leverkusen right winger is injured and forced to withdraw.

To make up for this absence, coach Eric Chelle has called up Jordan Torunarigha, a central defender playing for KAA Gent in Belgium. Although his position differs from Tella's, his versatility and defensive solidity could offer new tactical options for the Super Eagles' coach.
