Sudan’s hopes of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World cup came to end after goalless draw against Mauritania in the ninth round of the African qualifiers held at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Tanzania.

Both teams struggled to find the net in tense encounter that lacked clear scoring chances. The draw left Sudan with 13 point in 3rd place while Mauritania collected their 7th point to remain 5th in Group B.

With this result both Sudan & Mauritania are officially out of contention for World Cup spot. Senegal strengthened their grip at the top with 21 point after 5 - 0 win over South Sudan while DR Congo sit 2nd with 19 point following narrow 1 - 0 victory over Togo.
