On Friday, April 18, 2025, Mamelodi Sundowns FC officially announced the one-year extension of their captain Themba Zwane's contract. This announcement puts an end to months of speculation surrounding the 35-year-old attacking midfielder, affectionately nicknamed “Mshishi”.

Having suffered a partial Achilles tendon rupture in October 2024 during the AFCON qualifiers against Congo, Zwane has only played two matches this season with the Brazilians. Despite this injury that sidelined him for the 2024/2025 campaign, the club's management has renewed their trust in him.

Themba Zwane will therefore continue his journey with Mamelodi Sundowns FC, where he has been playing since 2013. He has won several titles with the Masandawana, including the CAF Champions League in 2016 and seven South African Premierships.
