This Malian gem signs with Angers SCO
The Scoïstes have just made a significant move in the young talent market. Angers SCO has signed Ianis Sacko, a Malian U17 international goalkeeper. Born in 2009, the 15-year-old talent arrives from Quevilly Rouen Métropole, a club where he took the first steps of his training.
“Angers SCO is very pleased to announce the arrival of young goalkeeper Ianis Sacko and defender Wacil Chella,” announced the Ligue 1 club.
Ianis Sacko was spotted thanks to his outstanding performances at the U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco from March 30 to April 19, 2025, where Mali reached the final. During this tournament, Sacko played three matches, showcasing his composure and strong ability to guard his goal despite opposing attacks.
His 10 decisive saves in 270 minutes of play confirmed his image as a promising prospect. Even though he conceded five goals, his solidity and potential did not go unnoticed by Angers SCO’s scouts and management. “He will join the training center and the National U17 group from this season onwards,” added the Angers SCO statement.
