After an underwhelming loan spell at Tottenham, Timo Werner appears ready to close the chapter with RB Leipzig. The German striker has struggled to win over his coach and has only played a handful of minutes in the league this season.

According to Florian Plettenberg (Sky), the San Jose Earthquakes have opened talks for a possible transfer as early as the winter window. No agreement has been reached yet, and the situation could change with Luis Suárez’s imminent contract extension at Inter Miami, which might shake up the market for German strikers in MLS.

The Californian club, who finished 10th in the Western Conference, are looking to bolster their attack alongside Ronaldo Vieira and Josef Martínez. Werner’s contract with Leipzig runs until June 30, 2026, leaving the door open for a potential move.
