Étoile du Sahel centenary: A gala match scheduled against Al Ahly!
Étoile Sportive du Sahel is currently celebrating the centenary of its founding, standing tall as one of the most prestigious and iconic clubs in Tunisian football. Established on May 11, 1925, the club was born following a general assembly presided over by Chedly Boujemla, held at the old Franco-Arab school on Laroussi Zarrouk Street, right in the heart of Sousse’s medina.
To mark its centenary, Étoile du Sahel will face Al Ahly
As part of these historic celebrations, Zoubeir Baya, president of the interim management committee of Étoile, announced that an agreement had been reached with Mahmoud El Khatib, president of Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly, to organize a friendly match between the two sides.
"An agreement has been reached with Al Ahly president Mahmoud El Khatib to hold a friendly match between Étoile Sportive du Sahel and Al Ahly as part of the centenary festivities," Zoubeir Baya declared on the club’s official channel. He added that the date of the encounter and logistical details would be announced in the coming days.
For their part, Al Ahly didn’t miss the opportunity to congratulate Étoile Sportive du Sahel. The Egyptian club published a message on its official platforms:
"The board of directors of Al Ahly extends its warmest congratulations to Étoile Sportive du Sahel, our brother club, and its loyal supporters on the occasion of its centenary."
