UEFA Champions League: Serhou Guirassy matches an incredible Mohamed Salah record
Instrumental in Borussia Dortmund's 2-1 away victory over Lille last Wednesday in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, Serhou Guirassy matches a record held by Mohamed Salah.
Serhou Guirassy continues to build his legend in this season's UEFA Champions League. Although he didn't find the back of the net against Lille last Wednesday, the Guinean international provided the assist for Beier's decisive second goal, securing BvB's place in the quarter-finals with a 2-1 victory. With this performance, the Guinean star now boasts 10 goals and four assists in the competition, equaling Mohamed Salah's record. The Egyptian had the same stats during the 2017-18 European campaign with Liverpool FC.
Serhou Guirassy has the chance to outshine the Egyptian star. However, he will need to be decisive once again against Barcelona in the quarter-finals to help the German club advance past this crucial stage of the competition. It's a challenging yet possible task, considering he already scored a brace against the Catalan club during the group stage. With his 10 goals, the runner-up for the 2024 African Ballon d'Or is third in the UEFA Champions League top scorers' list this season, tied with Harry Kane, who is second in the standings.
