This Wednesday night, the Parisians kicked off their 2026-2027 season with yet another trophy, defeating Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup. Luis Enrique gave his reaction at the final whistle of this showdown.

Despite only having his squad back a few days ago, Luis Enrique accomplished his mission by clinching the first title of the 2026-2027 campaign. The Spanish coach made a point of highlighting his players' performance, especially given such a short pre-season.

Enrique didn't hide his satisfaction with how ready his team already looked: "I'm not surprised by my team because I know the players perfectly well. Just like last year’s Super Cup, it was tough. We suffered less than last year, we controlled the match better, but you have to highlight what the team has done—it’s not easy to pull that off with a maximum of ten days' training."

The Parisian boss also emphasized his squad's motivation, which remains sky-high after a historic season and back-to-back Champions League triumphs: "I say it all the time—it's easy to motivate these players because they love playing football, training, and winning trophies. And with the fans, it's a perfect situation. The third star? I think it's so tough to win it twice in a row that you have to savor these moments, but we must stay ambitious, stay professional, and aim to win everything—that's the objective. The fans are incredible, their support is immense. It's a pleasure to know they're here to help the team, and we're happy to keep this moment going."
