UEFA Super Cup: Marquinhos underscores PSG's goal against Aston Villa
While Luis Enrique has been unequivocal about Paris Saint-Germain's objectives for the 2026-2027 season, Marquinhos has also hammered home the ambitions of the Parisian club.
Speaking at a press conference this Tuesday on the eve of the UEFA Super Cup final, captain Marquinhos made it clear the treble is: “our objective. We know it’s tough. We know the road and how hard it is. Even without much training, it all starts on Wednesday. When you have a chance at a trophy, you have to win it. That’s how I am, I always want more titles.” Paris Saint-Germain will therefore face Aston Villa on Wednesday in Salzburg, before another final against RC Lens on Sunday, August 16.
Marquinhos gives his take on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia
Having missed out on the World Cup with Georgia, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was able to rest this summer before quickly resuming training with Paris Saint-Germain. The left winger heads into the UEFA Super Cup clash against Aston Villa, scheduled for this Wednesday (9pm), in top form according to his captain Marquinhos.
"I had to defend against him in training, and I can tell you it was really tough (smiles). He’s fresher than me after the holidays! We’re counting on every player. Everyone is important on the pitch, and everyone will be important tomorrow. I hope Kvara has another huge season like the last one. It would be great for us if he stays at that level," the central defender said at Tuesday’s press conference.
