The national teams of Nigeria and Ghana have been invited to the Unity Cup from May 27 to 31, 2025, at GTech Community Stadium in Brentford, London. This friendly mini-tournament will also feature teams from Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago.

After 21 years of absence, the Unity Cup returns with two semi-finals and a final to be played at the Bees' ground, featuring the national teams of Ghana, Jamaica, Nigeria, and Trinidad and Tobago,” announced AfroSport, the event organizer, on Brentford FC's website this Thursday, April 10, 2025, in a statement.

The Unity Cup, an Afro-Caribbean competition, has not been held since 2004. The 2025 edition marks a revival of this tournament celebrating cultural and sporting ties. According to the confirmed schedule, the Unity Cup 2025 will kick off on Tuesday, May 27, with the first semi-final pitting Trinidad and Tobago against Jamaica. The next day, Wednesday, May 28, Nigeria will face Ghana in a highly anticipated clash between the two giants of African football.

The four teams will meet again on Saturday, May 31, in a double-header at the Gtech. There will be a match to determine the third place, followed by the final to crown the winner of the Unity Cup 2025,” AfroSport stated.

For Nigeria and Ghana, these friendly matches will serve as reunions and also as a springboard to prepare for the upcoming World Cup 2026 qualifiers and the final phase of the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 for the Super Eagles.
