When he left Metz last February, Malick Mbaye carried the weight of a mixed season. Arriving at Metz in February 2023, the 2022 CHAN champion with Senegal never managed to establish himself in the professional squad of Lorraine. In two seasons, the Senegalese forward played only 7 official matches with the first team and several games in National 3 with the reserve squad. Rarely used by László Bölöni, he seemed destined for anonymity. However, his loan to Amiens changed everything.

Under the guidance of Omar Daf, the 21-year-old striker found fertile ground for his development. During his third appearance with Amiens FC, Malick Mbaye opened his scoring account in Ligue 2 against Rodez (1-1) on February 21. After a brief drought in March, he quickly bounced back. Mbaye netted three goals against AC Ajaccio (2-1), Dunkerque (1-0), and Guingamp (3-2).

In just three months, Malick Mbaye has scored 4 goals in 9 appearances. This resurgence at Amiens, reflected in his statistics, hints at a promising end of the season for the young Senegalese international.
