Violent brawls broke out among Argentina fans in Atlanta on Tuesday night prompting police to execute unprecedented security measures before kickoff.

The streets of Atlanta transformed into a battleground in the early hours of Wednesday morning as rival factions of Argentine supporters clashed violently.

Social media footage captured chaotic scenes of fans hurling metal chairs and wooden tables outside local bars and restaurants.

Surprisingly, local law enforcement was nowhere to be seen during the height of these street brawls leaving business owners and bystanders to dodge the flying furniture.

Following the midnight disturbances, the Atlanta Police Department rapidly mobilized to secure the perimeter around Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Recognizing the explosive nature of the classic England-Argentina rivalry, security forces are leaving absolutely nothing to chance.

For the first time in this tournament, authorities are forcing opposing sets of fans to enter the stadium through completely segregated gates. While fans can still sit near each other once inside, this separation policy highlights the massive anxiety surrounding the high stakes fixture.
