Wayne Rooney rushes to the aid of Thomas Tuchel
Despite England's elimination in the 2026 World Cup semi-finals against Argentina, Wayne Rooney refuses to question Thomas Tuchel. The former Three Lions captain insists the German remains the right man for the job.
Speaking to the BBC, Rooney was clear: he sees only one manager capable of doing better than Tuchel:
I don't see anyone else, unless you go and get Pep Guardiola. There is no better coach available.
For the former Manchester United striker, sacking Tuchel would make no sense unless a credible alternative is ready to take charge of the England squad.
Under contract until after Euro 2028, the German tactician still enjoys the full confidence of the English FA, which reportedly has no plans to end his tenure despite the World Cup disappointment. England will now look to finish the tournament on a high note by battling France for third place.
