What a comeback! Porto officially announces the return of Brazilian Thiago Silva to the Portuguese team!
A legendary Brazilian defender has made a long-awaited return to Portuguese football. FC Porto has officially unveiled 41-year-old Thiago Silva as their latest acquisition, a signing that was finalized late last year.
Porto shared photographs of the formal presentation on their official social media channels, marking the formal arrival of the experienced center-back. Silva’s contract with the “Dragons” was actually signed back in December, tying him to the club until the summer of 2026, with a mutual option for an additional year.
This move represents a poignant homecoming for Silva. He first joined Porto in 2005, making the leap from Brazilian club Juventude for his inaugural stint in European football. However, he never made a competitive appearance for the first team during that initial period.
Silva arrives as a free agent, having most recently played for Brazilian side Fluminense. According to the player valuation site Transfermarkt, his current market value is estimated at €600,000, though his wealth of experience at the highest level is considered an invaluable asset for Porto's squad.
