Will Mauro Icardi leave Galatasaray?

Rumors about Mauro Icardi's departure have gained momentum in recent days. Despite his return to form after an injury, the Argentine striker at Galatasaray continues to face criticism for performances considered below expectations.

With 5 goals in 8 Süper Lig matches, Icardi has reportedly attracted interest from South American and Saudi clubs, as his contract expires at the end of the season. Among the most persistent rumors was an alleged interest from Peñarol, the Uruguayan club. However, the club's president, Ignacio Ruglio, was quick to set the record straight:

A lot of people have contacted me about this, but there has been no contact. I don't know where these rumors are coming from, but there's nothing true about them.

The club official added that he didn't believe his coach, Diego Aguirre, was interested in the player either. Meanwhile, Club América (Mexico) and a Saudi team from the NEOM project are also rumored to be interested, with the latter reportedly ready to offer a €20 million contract over two years. This is definitely a situation to watch!
