Alban Lafont's international future might soon be adorned with the colors of Burkina Faso. Sidelined at Nantes and having previously been called up by the French team, the goalkeeper is in advanced talks with the Burkinabè national team.

During a press conference this Monday, Brama Traoré, the coach of Burkina Faso, mentioned this possibility while unveiling his list of 25 players for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Djibouti and Guinea-Bissau.

Negotiations well underway

Though Lafont was not called up for these matches, discussions are actively ongoing.

"The talks are progressing well and we will revisit this in April. I have had recent conversations on this matter and I believe Alban Lafont could be very beneficial for us. His arrival would strengthen our squad as he is a quality goalkeeper who can contribute to our team," Traoré stated, as reported by Afrik Foot.

Rumors suggesting a financial compensation request from Lafont's camp have been swiftly denied by the Burkinabè Football Federation. Meanwhile, the goalkeeper is experiencing a challenging period at his club, currently playing with FC Nantes' reserve team in National 3.
