World Cup 2026: Folarin Balogun breaks the silence on controversy
In the past few hours, Folarin Balogun has broken his silence following the United States' elimination in the round of 16 of this 2026 World Cup against Belgium (4-1).
Team USA's top scorer during the tournament with three goals, Folarin Balogun took to his social media to address the disappointment. "My first World Cup... It hurts to wait four years to compete at the highest level in our sport. I want to apologize to our supporters: we weren't good enough when it mattered most and we let you down," he wrote.
To recap, his return against the Red Devils was at the center of heated controversy after his red card suspension received against Bosnia and Herzegovina was lifted. However, he did not address this issue in his message, instead choosing to express his confidence in the future of American soccer.
"Soccer in America will only get bigger. The belief, the talent, and the passion keep growing and I know the best is yet to come," he added.
