Norway took a giant leap toward the Round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Senegal on Matchday 2 in Group I.

This victory cements Norway's hold on second place with six points, level with France. Senegal and Iraq remain at the foot of the group, both yet to register a point.

In the other group match, played in Philadelphia, France stamped their authority with a commanding 3-0 win over Iraq, officially sealing their place in the knockout stage.

Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring in the 14th minute. The match was then halted for an extended period due to severe weather and thunderstorms.

Once play resumed, the Real Madrid forward struck again, bagging a brace with a second goal in the 54th minute. Ousmane Dembélé then put the result beyond doubt, netting Les Bleus' third in the 66th minute.

With two wins from two, France sit atop the group and are officially through to the next round.
