World Cup 2026 (Q): Achraf Hakimi on the verge of breaking Romain Saïss's record
Moroccan international, Achraf Hakimi, is set to become the third most-capped player in the history of the Atlas Lions during this international break, surpassing veteran Romain Saïss.
At just 26 years old, Achraf Hakimi is close to etching his name in the Top 3 of the most-capped players in the history of the Atlas Lions. The PSG defender currently has 82 caps, just one short of Romain Saïss. The latter holds the third spot in the ranking of the most-capped players of the Moroccan national team with 83 appearances.
It should be noted that Romain Saïss is absent from Walid Regragui's list for this March international break. Consequently, Achraf Hakimi will surpass his teammate after playing the matches against Niger and Tanzania, which will take place as part of the 5th and 6th rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. As a reminder, the two most-capped players of the Moroccan national team are Naybet (115 matches) and Ahmed Faras (94 matches).
Achraf Hakimi and Morocco are set to face Niger and Tanzania on March 21 and 25, 2025, respectively.
