World Cup 2026 (Q): Gambia and Kenya draw
Gambia and Kenya ended in a draw after a match filled with many twists and turns on the 5th day of the World Cup 2026 qualifiers in Group F.
Gambia and Kenya delivered a thrilling show on the evening of Thursday, March 20, 2025. The Scorpions hosted the Harambee Stars at the Alassane Ouattara Olympic Stadium in Ebimpé, Ivory Coast. The two adversaries, locked in a fierce battle from start to finish, eventually recorded a draw (3-3). The drama began with a missed penalty by Musa Barrow at the half-hour mark. But this didn't dampen the Gambian striker's spirit, as he opened the scoring for his team later in the second half (55').
Yankuba Minteh doubled the lead for Gambia six minutes later. In the 69th minute, Michael Olunga reduced the deficit for Kenya in the 79th minute. The Harambee Stars pushed hard thereafter and eventually equalized in the 75th minute through Mohamed Bajaber. Musa Barrow then restored the lead for the Gambian Scorpions (84'). But the determination of the Kenyans could not be underestimated as they leveled the match once more in the dying moments (90+6') thanks to William Wilson.
Kenya now holds the 4th place in Group F with 5 points. Gambia, on the other hand, positions itself in 5th place with 4 points. On matchday 6, the Harambee Stars will take on the Panthers of Gabon while the Scorpions will face the Elephants of Ivory Coast.
