The coach of Benin, Gernot Rohr, unveiled on Monday, March 10, the list of 25 players selected for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Among the key players, the star striker of the Cheetahs and Augsburg, Steve Mounié, will lead the attack, supported by Sessi d'Almeida (Apollon Limassol) and Junior Olaitan (Grenoble).

On the other hand, Tosin Aiyegun (Lorient) is absent due to an injury, as is defender Cédric Hountondji (Angers), who is suffering from an Achilles tendon issue. The latter had already missed the last gathering due to a muscle problem.

Another notable absence is Olivier Verdon (Ludogorets), excluded by the coach's decision. Conversely, Rabiou Sankamao (Wydad Fès) makes his return after missing the last call-up. Brandon Agounon (Châteauroux) is also recalled, as he awaits his first cap with the Cheetahs.

Benin, currently third in Group C, will play two crucial matches: against Zimbabwe on March 20 and South Africa on March 25. The Beninese are tied on points with Rwanda and South Africa, fostering hopes for qualification.
