World Cup 2026 Qualifiers: Mali to face Comoros and Central African Republic in Morocco
Mali is gearing up to face Comoros and the Central African Republic in the 5th and 6th rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. While the list of summoned players is yet to be released, the venues for these matches have been revealed.
The Eagles of Mali were initially set to travel to Comoros to play against the Coelacanths before heading to the Central African Republic to clash with the Wild Beasts of Bas-Ubangi. However, there has been a change in venue. This news has been confirmed by the Malian Football Federation.
Comoros and the Central African Republic, lacking stadiums that meet international standards, have chosen Morocco as the venue for their home matches. Thus, Mali will face the Comorian team on March 21 at the Municipal Stadium of Berkane, and then Central Africa on March 24 at the Laarbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca. This situation allows the Eagles to limit travel and benefit from some continuity in their preparation.
Currently fourth in their group with 5 points, the Malians trail 4 points behind the leaders, Comoros and Ghana, who each have 9 points. Madagascar occupies third place with 7 points. These two encounters in Morocco are poised to be decisive for the Eagles, who will need to attempt to move closer to the top positions.
