World Cup 2026 Qualifiers: Zimbabwe Can "Beat" the Super Eagles, Warns Michael Nees

Zimbabwe and Nigeria will face off on March 25 in the 6th round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Optimistic and calm, the Warriors' coach trusts his team to overcome the Super Eagles.

Despite being considered the favorite in Group C, Nigeria has struggled to assert itself since the start of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. In the previous four rounds, the Super Eagles have recorded three draws against Lesotho (1-1) at home, Zimbabwe (1-1) in Huye, South Africa (1-1) at home, and a defeat to Benin (2-1) away. This has left them with only 3 points, positioning them 5th in the group.

These results, which do not reassure the quality of the Nigerian team's performance, give confidence to Zimbabwe. Michael Nees, the coach of Zimbabwe's Warriors, expressed his belief that his team can pull off a surprise against Nigeria.

"Everyone knows Nigeria is better than their current position, but we have a good chance to beat them at home. It is possible to take advantage of Nigeria's poor form at home. For Nigeria to turn things around, they will have to perform well, but I think it's possible to beat them in Uyo," Michael Nees stated.
