Toni Kroos has delivered a blunt assessment of Germany’s World Cup exit, questioning the quality of the current squad and suggesting the team no longer possesses the level of talent required to compete at the highest level.

Speaking on his podcast Kroos & Kroos: die WM unter der Lupe, the former midfielder was critical of the side’s ability to produce decisive performances.

“Right now, we don't have a single world‑class player,” Kroos said. “We don't have a single one of those players; we need to be honest about that.”

He contrasted the current generation with past teams, noting that while there are promising individuals, they have not yet reached the level required to influence games at the tournament’s sharp end.

“This team simply can't do that anymore. We just think we're better than Paraguay and will somehow win,” he added.
