Magesi FC have announced the departure of head coach Allan Freese and several technical team members following the team's relegation to the second-tier last season.

The 69-year-old mentor took over the reins from John Maduka in February, and was tasked with saving the club's topflight status, which ultimately proved an uphill battle.

Dikwena Tsa Meetse finished the 2025/26 campaign sitting in 15th place, level on 24 points with bottom-placed Orbit College who had an inferior goal difference.

Magesi, as a result, booked their spot in the PSL promotion/relegation playoffs, where they lost their Betway Premiership status to Milford FC in the three-team mini league.

The Limpopo-based outfit has now opted to severe ties with Freese, assistant coach Abram Nteo, fitness coach Pedro Picarro, and goalkeeper coach Fiston Kwabanga.

During their stay in the topflight, Magesi stunned Mamelodi Sundowns as they pipped the Tshwane giants to the Carling Knockout Cup in the 2024/25 season.

Meanwhile, Kabelo Sibiya, who recently parted ways with Motsepe Foundation Championship side Highbury FC, has reportedly been appointed as the new head coach.

Whether the former Venda FC interim coach can steer Magesi to an immediate return to the Betway Premiership remains to be seen amid fierce competition in the second-tier.
