World Cup (Q) / Aïssa Mandi: "Bringing Algeria back to the World Cup was our mission"
Interview
A true example of leadership since his debut with the national team, Aïssa Mandi has always acted like a captain without the armband. As a cornerstone of Algeria’s defense, he finally saw his dream come true with the Fennecs qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. In the mixed zone, the central defender didn’t hide his emotion:
"Since March 29, 2022, only one thing has been on our minds: bringing Algeria back where it belongs—at the World Cup. Pride and determination for what comes next."
Currently at LOSC, Mandi has regained his starting spot after a tough start to the season. He’s coming off two stellar performances—one in the Europa League against the Serie A leaders, and another in Ligue 1 against Paris Saint-Germain—confirming his return to top form.
