🔴 Zamalek banned from recruitment! (Official)
The prestigious Egyptian club Zamalek is navigating yet another turbulent period. For the second time in two years, FIFA has imposed a recruitment ban on them. The reason: an unresolved dispute with their former striker, Khalid Boutaïb.
Already hit with a three-window ban in April 2024, the flagship club of Giza still hasn't settled its debts with the Moroccan international, who now plays for Pau FC.
Having played for Zamalek from January 2019 to January 2020, Boutaïb is claiming nearly three million euros for wrongful contract termination. This time, the sanction only affects the summer transfer window.
“The situation should be resolved quickly”
It's worth noting that despite this setback, the Egyptian team doesn't seem to be panicking. According to Amr Adham, a board member, “the situation should be resolved quickly.” Zamalek still owes the player 983,000 euros.
During his stint with the White Knights, Boutaïb scored 5 goals and provided 2 assists in 24 matches. He also contributed to the victory in the CAF Confederation Cup in 2019, his only major career title.
