Zamalek treasurer Hossam El Mandouh's launched strong response following Ahmed Mostafa Zizo’s controversial free transfer to arch rivals Al Ahly accusing the player of disrespecting the club and its supporters.

"Zamalek Doesn’t Rely on Any Player"

In exclusive remarks to Kooora, El Mandouh said:

"Players come and go but Zamalek’s legacy lives on. Many big names left throughout history and yet the club continues winning. No player’s departure will shut down Zamalek"

The official added:

"Those who leave Zamalek without showing respect are the real losers. The club's greater than any individual. We just won the Egypt cup without him and maybe if he'd played, we wouldn’t have lifted the trophy"

"Time to Reset for Next Season"

He described the Egypt cup triumph as turning point:

"This title helps reset our course for the next season. We’ve previously won the Confederation cup and Super cup , now the Egypt cup. We know rebuilding takes time but with unity, Zamalek'll rise again"

Shedding Light on Shikabala’s Future

El Mandouh also revealed recent talk with club legend Shikabala:

“I told him, football's found you again. He once missed crucial penalty but now he scored the winning one. The decision to retire is his but the board told him Zamalek will always be his home”
