Cristiano Ronaldo spoke to the press ahead of Portugal’s match against Ireland. The Portuguese legend opened up about his pursuit of 1,000 goals before hanging up his boots.

Cristiano Ronaldo briefly touched on his future and the prospect of reaching a symbolic milestone that has everyone talking. In particular, there’s the tantalizing idea of scoring his 1,000th career goal at the 2026 World Cup. Asked about this scenario at the press conference, the forward couldn’t help but smile.

"You’ve watched a lot of movies! That would be far too perfect. But… let’s come back to reality. The stats you mentioned do make me happy, of course. A national team never depends on just one player, but it’s important to have players who can make the difference. I absolutely want to play in this World Cup. If the ‘movie’ you described were to come true, it would be the perfect ending to finish my career in style," the five-time Ballon d’Or winner replied.

At present, CR7 has 953 goals to his name.
