2026 Ballon d'Or: Kylian Mbappé confirms his triumph

Real Madrid

On Sunday evening, Kylian Mbappé let the cat out of the bag before the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony.

In a video broadcast by DAZN after Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over FC Barcelona on Sunday evening, a video set social media alight. It shows Kylian Mbappé speaking with comedian Redouane Bougheraba. The latter asks him: “Do you have it tomorrow?”

Mbappé responds with a nod. Some internet users are already interpreting this reaction as confirmation of his triumph. After scoring twice in the Clasico, Mbappé has thus found himself at the centre of speculation in the final hours before the trophy presentation.

Mbappe sera bien ballon d’or 2026 ! En effet cette vidéo de DAZN montre totalement le joueur confirmé à un de ses amis Redouane Bougheraba qui lui dit : « Demain tu l’as ? », Mbappe lui hoche la tête pour lui confirmer que c’est bien lui. Incroyable. 😍 https://t.co/BFaMIANbI4

The winner has still not been informed

Pascal Ferré, the former head of the Ballon d’Or, reminded listeners on RMC that the candidates are no longer informed of the result in advance. “Since 2024, the winners have no longer been told their fate before the ceremony and are all treated equally. When they arrive in the room in London, none of them will be able to raise their arms before the others because they are not aware of the result,” he said.
