2026 World Cup: Gianni Infantino reveals his top favorite

In an interview with AS newspaper on the topic of the 2026 World Cup, FIFA President Gianni Infantino was asked to name his favorite for the tournament.

The prediction from the head of world football's governing body was clear. "Spain is among the favorites, along with others of course. We already know their strength. The team ranked number one is naturally the favorite for the World Cup," said the FIFA President.

Despite the current geopolitical context, Infantino promises a "fantastic, phenomenal World Cup. (...) We're looking at a colossal event. It's more than a tournament, more than a sporting competition; it's a social event that the whole world will be watching".
