2026 World Cup - Spain: Luis de la Fuente provides updates on Yamal and Williams

With just a few weeks to go before the start of the 2026 World Cup, Spain's head coach Luis de la Fuente wanted to share an optimistic update on the fitness of his two starting wingers, Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal.

While the former has struggled with a groin injury for several months this season, and the latter, sidelined with a hamstring injury, won’t return before the World Cup, Luis de la Fuente was eager to reassure fans.

"I hope both of them will be in top shape. Nico is already regaining his best form, and I’m convinced Lamine will do the same. We’ll see other great players at this World Cup who will showcase the footballing potential of Spain. The most important thing is that everyone arrives fit and ready to help the team," said the La Roja coach at an event marking the release of his autobiography.
