FC Metz officially announced early on June 25, 2025, the departure of Ablie Jallow, as his contract comes to an end after eight seasons in Lorraine. Having joined in 2017, the Gambian forward leaves as a free agent, ready to embark on a new adventure.

After eight years of loyalty, the story between Ablie Jallow and FC Metz has come to a close. The Croix de Lorraine club confirmed this Wednesday the departure of their 26-year-old striker, whose contract expires this summer. Jallow, who was developed at Real Banjul in Gambia and then at Génération Foot in Senegal, joined Metz in July 2017 as a promising talent. However, his journey with Metz has seen its share of ups and downs.

Eight seasons, including three away from Lorraine

Ablie Jallow's beginnings at Metz were far from ideal. Between 2017 and 2019, he made just 14 appearances for Les Grenats. In the summer of 2019, he was loaned out to AC Ajaccio for a season (2019/20, 11 matches, 1 goal) and then to RFC Seraing in Belgium for two seasons (49 matches, 10 goals). He returned to Lorraine with valuable experience, finally earning a significant role during the 2022/23 campaign.

"Starting 34 times, the left-footer enjoyed a full season on his return to Moselle. With six goals and six assists, Ablie Jallow played a key part in FC Metz's promotion back to Ligue 1," the French club recounted.

The Gambian international followed up with a strong 2023/24 season, notching 3 goals and 2 assists in Ligue 1, then adding 5 goals and 2 assists in his final year with Les Grenats (2024/25) in Ligue 2.

"The partnership between the Grenats and Ablie Jallow ultimately lasted five wonderful, emotion-filled years," Metz concluded.
