The Leopards of the Democratic Republic of Congo will indeed face Chile in a friendly match on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 8 p.m. at the Stade de la Source in Orléans, France. After lengthy uncertainty due to organizational issues, this crucial World Cup 2026 warm-up has finally been confirmed following an agreement between the two federations.

Originally scheduled for Marbella, Spain, the fixture had to be relocated at the last minute. According to several sources, Spanish local authorities refused to host the match due to health concerns linked to the Ebola outbreak, despite reassurances from some European health agencies.

Congo's Minister of Sports, Didier Budimbu, confirmed that the match will now take place in Orléans. However, fans will not be able to attend, as the game will be played behind closed doors for organizational and security reasons.

This fixture is a major test for Sébastien Desabre’s squad just days before the World Cup kicks off. The Leopards will return to a stadium they know well, having secured two friendly wins there last year against Mali and Madagascar. Congolese fans will have to follow this clash with La Roja from their screens.
