AFCON Hero or Overrated? Khanye Slams Nwabali’s Skills

Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali's come under fire from former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye who believes the Chippa United shot stopper isn't good enough to guard the posts for the South African giants.
“Not Chiefs Material”?
Nwabali 28, has been linked with move to the Glamour Boys since impressing at AFCON 2023 where he played key role in Nigeria's run to the final.
Despite his rising reputation Khanye insists the Super Eagles No1 is overrated and prone to costly errors especially when dealing with aerial balls.
“He spills high balls and makes schoolboy mistakes , Just because he plays for Nigeria doesn’t mean he’s world class. I don’t think he suits Chiefs” Khanye told iDiski Times.
Khanye Suggests Alternatives
The former Bafana Bafana winger suggested Chiefs should look elsewhere and even mentioned Ricardo Goss as better option. Khanye accused unnamed parties of "selling" Nwabali to the club questioning his fundamentals and shot stopping techniques.
Solid Numbers Despite Criticism
Despite the harsh words, Nwabali's enjoyed solid season in the PSL making 23 league appearances, recording 9 clean sheets and conceding 25 goals. He also helped Nigeria reach the AFCON final narrowly missing out on the Golden Glove.
What Next for Nwabali?
Though Kaizer Chiefs signed Fiacre Ntwari earlier this season, rumours around Nwabali’s future remain. With clubs in South Africa and beyond tracking his progress the Nigerian could still land big move but whether that will be to Naturena remains in doubt.
