African giants make Thapelo Maseko enquiry to Mamelodi Sundowns
Foot Africa has been led to believe that Algerian heavyweights MC Alger have contacted Mamelodi Sundowns over a possible transfer of Thapelo Maseko.
The 22-year-old speedy winger is out-of-favour at Chloorkop as he's deemed surplus to requirements by head coach Miguel Cardoso ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
This comes despite a stellar showing at the recently-concluded 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the attacker scored against South Korea in the final group stage match.
Notably, Maseko was omitted from Sundowns' pre-season camp in Austria, with fresh reports indicating that he has been granted permission to find a new home.
Sources have now informed this publication that MC Alger are exploring a move for the winger, and are understood to have held exploratory talks with the African champions.
However, the Algerian title holders are said to be in the early stages of their interest in Maseko, who has a host of suitors, including from Europe.
Maseko spent the second round of the previous season on loan at Cypriot side AEL Limassol, scoring two goals with a solitary assist in 15 matches across all competitions.
Furthermore, whispers echoing from Czech Republic claim Slavia Prague have tabled an offer for the Bafana international after his impressive exploits in the World Cup.
With two years remaining in his current deal at Sundowns, it remains to be seen where Maseko will be plying his trade in the upcoming campaign.
