Al Ahly still trusts José Riveiro

Despite Thursday's 2-0 defeat to Palmeiras in the Club World Cup, Al Ahly's board has no plans to part ways with head coach José Riveiro. The Spanish tactician, who recently took charge of the Egyptian giants, continues to enjoy the full backing of the club's hierarchy.

Under pressure after two performances deemed disappointing in the tournament, Riveiro has faced a barrage of criticism, particularly regarding his team's tempo and attacking efficiency. But according to reports from Kooora, Al Ahly’s board is refusing to jump to conclusions. An internal source told the Arabic outlet in no uncertain terms:

Riveiro will continue in his role. He is not leaving. It's illogical to judge a coach after just two official matches.

The club insists that the Spaniard was brought in to deliver long-term progress. The management also says it understands the fans' frustration, but reaffirms its policy: assessments are made over a full season, not based on isolated results.
