Algeria ended their match against Burundi with fresh cause for concern. After Amine Gouiri withdrew, Himad Abdelli also left the pitch injured, just before half-time.

Starting the match, the Algerian midfielder was replaced by Adem Zorgane in the 45th minute plus four. According to the initial reports surrounding the match, he may have sustained an injury to his left ankle. A precise diagnosis is still awaited.

Fresh injury concern for Algeria’s internationals

This incident comes as Algeria are already having to cope with the absence of Amine Gouiri. The Olympique de Marseille forward withdrew from the squad before this match after suffering an injury.

In Abdelli’s case, the medical staff must now determine the exact nature of the injury and how long he may be unavailable. His early departure is another concern for the Algerian national team, which will have to monitor the physical condition of several players after this international break.
