FC Barcelona is still struggling to digest their 0-2 defeat to Atlético Madrid in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. At the heart of the criticism is Pau Cubarsí, who was sent off before halftime and singled out as one of the main culprits for this European setback.

Fully aware of the impact of his action, the 19-year-old defender was quick to speak up and take responsibility. In a message posted on his social networks, he didn't try to hide:

“One action changes the game and the match. That's football, and I take responsibility for the result.”

Despite this setback, Cubarsí adopted a rallying tone for what lies ahead:

“There's still a long way to go in this two-legged tie, and we're more united than ever: we're a family and we've always shown it. Onward, with effort and determination, we'll never give up.”

A message of unity ahead of a return leg that's already shaping up to be high tension.
