Bounou and Courtois lead the goalkeepers at the Club World Cup!
The Moroccan shot-stopper, delivering top-class performances for Al-Hilal, now shares the top spot among the tournament’s most decisive goalkeepers with Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid), both having racked up 11 saves.
Against Real Madrid, Bounou was simply outstanding, denying five dangerous efforts, including a last-gasp penalty from Federico Valverde. His heroic display kept the Spanish giants from taking the lead.
In the second match against Red Bull Salzburg, he shone again, notably parrying a powerful strike from Swedish international Olof Mellberg—a save hailed as one of the best of the tournament.
His commanding presence between the posts earned him the Man of the Match award against Salzburg, with a rating of 8.20 from the specialist website Sofascore.
