CAN U20 UFOA-B qualifiers: Côte d’Ivoire crushes Benin 5-0 in opening match

The U20 Elephants kicked off the 2027 CAN U20 qualifiers in style, dominating Benin 5-0 this Sunday. It was a clinical and collective masterclass from the Ivorians, who immediately take command of Group A.

The show began as early as the 13th minute. Seahet Roma opened the scoring, followed by goals from Prince Zagadou and Namory Keita. Elove Koutouan then bagged a brace to seal the rout. 5-0, the final score. This emphatic victory puts Côte d’Ivoire at the top of Group A ahead of their next clash with Niger.

On the other hand, Benin faltered at the start. The young Beninese will need to regroup quickly—again facing Niger—if they hope to get back on track. As a reminder, the two finalists of this UFOA-B tournament will secure their tickets for the 2027 CAN U20, scheduled to be held in Ghana.
