Cedric Kaze makes honest admission ahead of Pirates MTN8 clash
Interview
Sekhukhune United head coach Cedric Kaze has made an honest admission ahead of the first leg of their MTN8 semi-final clash against Orlando Pirates at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday (15h00).
Babina Noko will lock horns with the Buccaneers three times in a space of a week, with a Betway Premiership tie sandwiched between the two-legged matches in the MTN8.
With the first leg of the cup tie on the horizon, Kaze admits securing a favourable result over Pirates, who have won a record-extending four consecutive MTN8 tiles, won't be an easy feat to achieve.
“It's a very big week for us, playing the same team three times, sometimes you play it twice but maybe the fans of football got a bonus as well, three times in one week,” said the Sekhukhune mentor.
"It's very important to manage the three games well, starting on Saturday with the first leg. We are playing against the defending champions, not even once, not twice, four times in a row. We know how big is the mountain we need to climb.
While he acknowledges that eliminating Abdeslam Ouaddou's men won't be a walk in the park, the former Kaizer Chiefs co-coach says his troops are ready to give the Buccaneers a run for their money.
“But we are preparing ourselves, we want to compete and starting on Saturday for the first leg we need to be at our best, we need to show our intentions, we need to show our mind and our plan clear,” Kaze added.
"And that's what's going to take us through the first game and then we can prepare for the second game.
Kaze will be looking to guide Sekhukhune to their first-ever MTN8 final, while Ouaddou will be eager to reach back-to-back finals in the competition, and the club's fifth in a row.
