Relief is just around the corner for Chancel Mbemba. His turbulent chapter with OM will come to a close on June 30, the date his contract with the Marseille club expires. And the Leopards' captain is ready to leave with his head held high.

Speaking to Karim Baldé after DR Congo's latest friendly, the central defender confirmed his imminent departure:

My contract ends on June 30. When it’s over, I’ll say thank you to Marseille and to all OM supporters. I gave everything for the shirt. God allowed me to make history at the club. I’ve had two wonderful seasons. I never cheated.

Mbemba joined OM in 2022 and quickly established himself as a key figure before being abruptly sidelined this season. Despite everything, his tone is free of regret or bitterness:

I wish all the best to my teammates and to the entire club. My story ends on the 30th, but I hope even better defenders than me will come to Marseille. And the most important thing remains: allez l’OM!

A reserved and classy farewell for a player who made his mark on the club as much with his commitment as with his silence during the storm.
