Chelsea Cruise Past Espérance to Reach Club World Cup Round of 16

Esperance Sportive de Tunis bowed out of the 2025 fifa Club World cup with heavy 3 - 0 defeat against Chelsea FC on Tuesday 25 June in their final Group D match.

How the Match Unfolded

The Tunisian side held on until stoppage time of the first half when Chelsea struck twice in quick succession. Tosin Adarabioyo opened the scoring in the 45+3 minute followed by clinical finish from Liam Delap just two minutes later.

The Blues sealed the win deep into 2nd half injury time as Tyrique George added 3rd in the 90+7 minute.

With this result Chelsea finish 2nd in Group D on 6 point, just one behind Flamengo who topped the group with 7. Esperance, on the other hand ended 3rd with 3 point narrowly ahead of LAFC who exit the tournament at the bottom.

Chelsea’s progression sets up high stakes european clash with Benfica winners of Group C in the Round of 16.

As for Esperance despite their early exit, the experience gained on the global stage could serve as foundation for future continental campaigns.
