All eyes are currently on the United States, which is hosting the new edition of the 2025 Club World Cup. This tournament is being held for the first time with 32 teams from the various football confederations around the world.

As the group stage draws to a close, the first round of 16 matchups are starting to take shape. Tournament organizers have just announced the highly anticipated first fixtures of this knockout round.

Club World Cup: Paris SG to face Inter Miami in the round of 16

Paris Saint-Germain secured their place in the round of 16 with a 2-0 win over the Seattle Sounders, the American club. This victory sets up a showdown between PSG and Inter Miami on Sunday, June 29. The clash promises high drama, especially with Lionel Messi facing his former club.

The second fixture of this stage will see Palmeiras take on Botafogo. This all-Brazilian encounter is scheduled for Saturday, June 28, and is expected to deliver plenty of intensity and emotion.

So far, eight teams have booked their tickets for the 2025 Club World Cup round of 16: Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Miami, and the Brazilian trio of Flamengo, Palmeiras, and Botafogo.

On the other hand, several major clubs have made a premature exit from the competition. This includes Al Ahly from Egypt, Wydad Casablanca from Morocco, Al Ain from the United Arab Emirates, Atlético Madrid, and FC Porto. Other sides from the Americas and Asia—such as Seattle, Los Angeles, Pachuca, Urawa Red Diamonds, and Ulsan Hyundai—have also been eliminated.
